Blondie live playing 'Maria" and 'Dreaming" back to back live at the Observatory in San Diego on 9.10.2016. Maria wasn't on the setlist but was played instead of Rip Her to shreds. Previously I had split these up in 2 videos but here you can hear Debbie say they hadn't played Maria in awhile.

Adolescents - 'Amoeba' live at the Observatory in Santa Ana, California. with banter between Steve Soto and Tony Reflex. A great punk show with the Dickies, Alley Cats and the Crowd. Adolescents blasting their old songs that are politically aware just as relevant today in this anti-Trump era as it was in the anti-Regan era of the 1980's. This is the beginning of 4 years of protests songs to come! It was cool to hear Democracy with the lines " We're to far gone for Democracy..they're leading us into world war 3..."

Blondie singing 'Maria" on the last night of the tour in San Diego. Live at the Observatory in North Park. What a great show it was. Audience was great singing along. Debbie Harry said she hadn't sang it in awhile, the usually played Rip Her To Shreds on the 2nd to last song of the set, so this was a surprised and a last minute change because even the set list said Rip her to shreds.

Blondie played in San Diego last night 9.10.2016 at The Observatory in North Park. I had never walked around North Park before so it was cool to explore the record shops, Used Tshirts, Skate clothing stores around there. Here is Blondie doing an extended version of Rapture with covers of the Beastie Boy's "Fight for your right" and Prince's "Kiss". It was a great show, met fun people in the pit front barrier.

Walking Around Japan Pt.7 - Mitaka & Kamakura - 16 days in Japan 2016. I went to Mitaka to see the Ghibli museum, animation Studio Ghibli director Hayao Miyazaki, I walked from Kichijoji station down to Inokashira Park . you do need advance tickets to get into this museum, no photos allowed inside. I was a nice walk around the lake with lots of people eating outside in the park. The walk was a bit far but it was a nice scenic walk I would've missed if I took the shuttle bus. Kamakura was a day trip from Shibuya and usually not that crowded but I was there during Golden Week, so try to avoid that holiday. Everything is walkable but lots of walking! the beach town was nice.

This was my first time in Osaka, the first day I got to Osaka it was raining all day so I decided to go to the Kaiyukan Aquarium which is located on the water. It was a really nice aquarium with a floor dedicated to a huge food court and shops. It stopped raining around dusk and I just walked around the area by my hotel which was located a block from the Dotonbori area wich was nice. It was a short train ride to the station near Osaka Castle and a nice walk up to the Castle entrance. Around the same area as Dotonbori is Amerikamura which reminds me of a sort of LA Melrose area with cool t-shirt, clothing, record shops, mixed in with nicer shops. Then I took a day trip to Nara to see Todai-ji Temple and a nice walk through Nara park with all the deer. There was more eating places when I was here in 2008 but now its more shops and I found a nice sit down restaurant in town on the way back to the train station.
Wandering Around Japan Pt.5 - Kyoto - Arashiyama - 16 days in Japan 2016. Exploring Kyoto, Arashiyama Bamboo forest and surroundings. Gion district, Fushimi Inari, Chikurin-no-michi, Kiyomizu-dera, Fujusan view from the shinkansen...

Wandering Around Japan Pt.4 Iwakuni & Miyajima - 16 days in Japan. I went down to Iwakuni for a couple days and did a day trip to Miyajima Island. The boat ride is only about 20 minutes and mellow. Miyajima is a nice place to hike, shop, chill and lots of deer wandering around but they don't really bother you.
Wandering Around Japan Pt.3 Japanese bands live Exist Trace "This is now" While I was in Japan I had wanted to see some Japanese bands play. I was lucky enough to catch a couple Japanese bands that I listen too Band-Maid and Exist Trace play in Shinjuku. I just had to extend my Japan trip an extra couple days. This video shows the opening song of the set for Exist Trace "This is now" which is the title song of their newest EP. They played all the songs from this EP and a couple others. Great show from both Exist Trace and Band-Maid. I wish they would have let people take photos and videos they have a great live show.

Torrance Art Museum hosted a art skate show on June 4, 2016. Director Shaun Gladwell had a North American premiere of hs film "Skateboarding vs Minimalism" staring Rodney Mullen. Rodney who was part of the Bones Brigade team in the 80's. Rodney is the reason there is street skating today with his taking the "ollie" to the streets and inventing the flatland ollie. It started with a skateboard freestyle demo insdie the museum with Mike Osterman who rides for Mode Skateboards and one of the premier freestylers today and his friends freestylen for the crowd. Also the band Variflex C3's made up of skate legend Lance Mountain, Hagop Najarian, Mark Waters and Jeff Grosso adding some background vocals played a fun set of 80's punk covers for the crowd the whole event was low key and felt like a friendly backyard get together. after the band played the crowd went back inside to watch the films projected on the walls. Rodney Mullen was also there to chat with everyone along with other skaters attending.

Thought I'd post some videos of bands coming out of Japan. This is BabyMetal a fusion band who labels their sound as 'Kawaii Metal'. A sort of J-pop & death metal mash up. BabyMetal is the first Japanese band to headline Whembly arena.
Looks like they put on a good live show, looking forward to seeing them in concert.
